Two Michaels Stores Inc. locations in Iowa were found to have tampered debit card personal identification number pads, but neither was in the Des Moines area, according to a list released by the company.

The company screened all 964 of its U.S. stores and confirmed tampering on 90 pads in 20 states, including pads in Coralville and Davenport. Michaels Stores has locations in West Des Moines and Ankeny, which weren’t found to be affected.

Many customers at affected stores had money stolen directly from their bank accounts via automated teller machines withdrawals, the Chicago Tribune reported.
