Mid America Recycling has bought the Waste Management recycling plant in Des Moines for an undisclosed sum. Mid America was sold to Greenstar Recycling in 2007, and Waste Management bought the facility in 2013. The facility will be run by several principals who originally developed the Mid America plant, including Mid America President Mick Barry. “We feel that now is the right time to re-enter the recycling market in the Des Moines area,” said Barry, a longtime veteran of the recycling industry and a former owner of the company. “My business partner, Brian Meng, and I will utilize our experience, resources and intellectual capital to ensure that Mid America Recycling will return to the forefront of the recycling industry in the Central United States.”
