MidAmerican Energy Co. announced plans to install its first concrete wind-turbine tower — at 377 feet it’s one of the tallest in the country — at its new wind farm in Adams County. The extra height is expected to help the turbine generate more power because wind will be stronger at that altitude. MidAmerican will get the tower from Siemens. Most of the conventional steel towers are 263 feet tall. The concrete turbine is one of 64 wind turbines planned for the Adams wind farm.
