Midwest economic activity spiked in July

The Chicago PMI, an indicator of economic activity in the Midwest, was much stronger than expected in July with a reading of 54.7, up from 49.4 in June and higher than a measure of 50.8 that economists had predicted, Business Insider reported. In one worrisome sign, the survey reported stagnant wage growth.
