Mike Knapp steps down as Iowa Realty CEO

Iowa Realty Co. Inc., the state’s largest real estate company and once one of its top developers, announced today that R. Michael Knapp will step down as president and CEO and take a role as chairman emeritus of HomeServices of Iowa Inc., Iowa Realty’s holding company.
 
Kim Bakey, formerly senior vice president and chief financial officer of HomeServices of Iowa, has been named CEO.

Brennan Buckley, formerly senior vice president and general manager for Iowa Realty, has been promoted to president of Iowa Realty.

Other companies that fall under the HomeServices of Iowa umbrella are Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices First Realty, Midland Title and Escrow, Iowa Title Co. and Iowa Realty Insurance Agency.


Bakey has been with HomeServices of Iowa for 22 years, beginning as vice president of finance and working her way through the financial and operationalareas of the company, according to a release.

Buckley has been with Iowa Realty for 10 years, beginning as vice president of marketing, and most recently he served as the company’s general manager.

Knapp began his career at Iowa Realty in 1972 as a sales associate, and has served in virtually every leadership role in the organization. He was named president and CEO in 1992.

Iowa Realty was founded in the early 1950s out of a short-lived partnership formed by William Knapp, Michael Knapp’s uncle, and Billy McKain.
