A new auto repair shop will make its home in Urbandale.

A Milex/Mr. Transmission franchise will be located at 8205 Hickman Road and is scheduled to be open by the end of winter.

Fred Whatling, co-owner of the Urbandale location, said construction of the 5,000-square-foot building has already begun. The one-story facility will have six repair bays.

Whatling said he looked in Grimes and Des Moines as possible sites for the business, but found the demographics and price more attractive in Urbandale.

This is the first Milex/Mr. Transmission location in Iowa.
