The Mid-Iowa Council of the Boy Scouts of America will be honoring George Milligan, president and a director of the Graham Group Inc., with the North Star Award. The award is the highest BSA-sanctioned award to nonregistered leaders who have significantly contributed to or supported the Scouting program. “His contributions and the Graham Group’s contributions have just been extraordinary over the years,” said Matt Hill, scout executive and CEO of the Mid-Iowa Council. “They were critical to building the [Fred Maytag II Scout Center in Des Moines] and other projects across our council. He’s just been a key pillar in the Des Moines community for years.” Graham Group guided the council through the design and pre-construction phase and assisted with fundraising for the 24,000-square-foot scout center facility in Des Moines, which was completed two years ago. Milligan also served on the council’s executive board for a number of years. The council first presented the award last year to Rich Willis, president of Willis Automotive. Milligan will receive the North Star Award during the council’s annual “Promises, Promises” fundraising event, which this year due to COVID-19 will be held virtually on Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. For more information and to register, click here.
