Minor flooding expected in Des Moines this weekend
The city of Des Moines expects to close George Flagg Parkway from Southwest 30th Street to Park Avenue this weekend because of flooding. The Raccoon River is about 1.5 feet below flood stage at Fleur Drive, and is expected to crest more than a foot over flood stage at 1 p.m. Saturday. That means minor flooding near the road. All other rivers and streams are expected to remain below flood stage. The Bill Riley Trail is closed at the railroad bridge. For more information, call 283-4950.
