Ankeny-based Moehl Millwork Inc. has been acquired by Building Material Distributors Inc. of Galt, Calif., according to a release. Moehl also has operations in Olathe, Kan., and is a major provider of millwork products for residential and commercial construction in the Kansas City metro as well as Iowa. The company was acquired through a Building Material Distributors (BMD) wholly owned subsidiary, Home Factories Inc. All Moehl employees and management will remain in place and will have the opportunity to become owners via BMD’s employee ownership program, Don Rudd, Moehl’s CEO and owner, said in a release. Moehl supplies premium windows, doors, moulding and cabinets for commercial and residential projects. BMD supplies specialty products to builders, contractors, remodelers, independent lumberyards, regional building material dealers, window and door specialty retailers, garage door dealers, hardware retailers, and home centers. In addition to its headquarters, the company has distribution centers in Perris and Eureka, Calif., Colorado Springs, Colo., Memphis, Tenn., Centralia, Wash., Dunn, N.C., and Santa Fe, N.M., as well as manufacturing plants in Sacramento, Calif., and Old Fort, N.C. Moehl was advised on the transaction by NCP Inc., acting as exclusive financial adviser, and Whitfield & Eddy P.L.C., acting as legal counsel.
