There is growing momentum in Congress for delaying the Affordable Care Act’s “Cadillac tax” and more evidence that the 40 percent tax on high-cost health insurance plans will hit a sizable number of businesses, the Washington Business Journal reported. Scheduled to go into effect in 2018, the tax has already prompted many employers to scale back health benefits to avoid it. A veto-proof majority of more than 290 members of the House have signed onto legislation to repeal the tax, and there is strong support in the Senate as well.
