The combination of Meredith Corp. and Time Inc. will likely mean a net loss of jobs between the two companies, but will bring more jobs to Des Moines, The Des Moines Register reported. The creative talent of Time’s magazines will stay put, Meredith CEO Steve Lacy said, but Meredith will add more support staff in Iowa as the companies merge. “That’s really where over time we’ll have the ability to bring jobs here,” he said. “I wish I could tell you how many, but it will be a sizable chunk when all is said and done.” Meredith employs about 4,000 people, including 900 in Des Moines and 600 in New York City. Time employs about 7,000 workers. If approved by regulators, the acquisition will give Meredith one of the country’s largest media audiences.
