More than $30M distributed in Des Moines COVID-19 relief for entertainment venues

Axios Des Moines: More than $30 million has been distributed to metro-area entertainment venues through a pandemic grant, according to data released this week by the U.S. Small Business Administration. The “helicopter money,” has rescued multiple Iowa venues from almost certain downsizing or closures, Loyd Ogle, an entertainment advocate who cofounded the 80/35 Music Festival, said. Congress approved $16 billion in grants through the Shuttered Venue Operators program last year.
