Staples mini post offices draw union criticism

CNNMoney: A U.S. Postal Service program to open “mini post offices” inside dozens of Staples stores has drawn a sharp rebuke from postal employee unions. Workers are concerned that the experimental locations — staffed by Staples employees, not Postal Service employees — will lead to the closure of traditional post offices and the loss of jobs with good wages and benefits.

Anheuser-Busch InBev to repurchase South Korean brewer for $5.8 billion

The New York Times: An­heuser-Busch In­Bev said on Mon­day that it will re­pur­chase Ori­en­tal Brew­ery in a deal val­ued at $5.8 bil­lion near­ly five years af­ter it sold the South Ko­rean brew­er to the pri­vate eq­uity firm Kohlberg Kravis Rob­erts. The deal ex­pands An­heuser-Busch In­Bev’s in­ter­na­tion­al foot­print and sig­nals its re­turn to the fast-grow­ing Asia-Pa­cific re­gion, a mar­ket it largely aban­doned af­ter the Ori­en­tal Brew­ery sale in Ju­ly 2009.

U.S. to be top destination for Chinese tourists

CNNMoney: The number of Chinese visitors coming to the United States will more than triple by 2020, according to a new report from brokerage CLSA. The new wave will include a confident, more travel-savvy Chinese tourist who is willing to bridge out from traditional vacation spots like Hong Kong and Macau. More than 17 percent of experienced Chinese travelers ranked the U.S. as their top vacation choice if money were no object — higher than any other destination. For first-time travelers, the U.S. is the second most popular vacation spot.
