The Music Collective DSM, founded early this year by a group of Iowa music industry professionals whose goal is to create a sustainable local music economy in Des Moines, will host an industry networking space at the 80/35 music festival, which takes place July 7-8 in Des Moines’ Western Gateway Park. The collective will have an RV set up in the Des Moines Radio Group parking lot at 1416 Locust St. Anyone interested in learning about the local music scene and the professionals who support it is welcome to visit and meet musicians and other music industry professionals during a series of industry hours hosted by leaders in each sector. Des Moines ticketing company Midwestix will also host a campfire jam session on July 8. In 2022, the Des Moines music industry had an estimated economic impact of about  $178 million.
