A new vision and action plan for downtown Des Moines will be called Downtown DSM: Future Forward, a Greater Des Moines Partnership steering committee announced. The name “gives a nod to the momentum of downtown and what is to come for downtown and for the Greater Des Moines region,” the partnership said in a news release. The vision and action plan is expected to help position downtown for “short-term economic recovery [from the pandemic] and long-term economic vitality and vibrancy,” according to an earlier news release from the partnership. The steering committee in August announced its selection of a consulting team to help guide development of the plan. The consulting team includes Bâton Global, Civitas Consultants and RDG Planning & Design.
