The National Alliance for Drug Endangered Children (National DEC) and the Governor’s Office of Drug Control Policy announced today’s opening of the Ninth annual National Drug Endangered Children conference at the Des Moines Marriott Downtown. More than 300 law enforcement officers, child protection workers, prosecutors, medical personnel, treatment providers and other practitioners from across the country will participate in the three-day conference. The presentations and training will focus on strategies to better address the harm and risks that children face when their caregivers are involved in drug trafficking or substance abuse. More than 2 million American children live with a parent who is dependent on or abuses illicit drugs, according to the alliance.
