A Nebraska condominium owners association said in a court document that home builder Joel Goodman and others diverted a $514,351 insurance payment for storm repairs for expenses, including salaries of the employees at Goodman’s now defunct development businesses. Stone Creek Condominium Association said Goodman and business partners were officers of the association when a June 2008 storm damaged two buildings. Goodman is seeking bankruptcy protection for himself and his Triton Group LLC and affiliated home building companies in federal bankruptcy court in Des Moines. After the storm, the association hired an independent contractor to repair damage, but was told that Goodman’s company would handle the repairs instead, according to a bankruptcy filing that seeks to block the discharge of the debts. The condominium association also has filed a lawsuit in a Nebraska state court seeking to recover the insurance payment.
