Des Moines-based general contractor Neumann Brothers has announced that it is now accepting applications for its Neumann Heart Fund. The employee-led charitable giving initiative will donate a total of $25,000 to nonprofit organizations in Iowa that provide direct support to military members, veterans and first responders; food poverty and hunger; and housing and homelessness. The Heart Fund is led by the company’s employees and focuses on issues that are meaningful to them, according to a release. The 2023 grant cycle will award $2,500 grants to 10 organizations, with submissions reviewed and selected by an internal committee of Neumann Brothers employees. Previous grantees are eligible for renewed funding. The 2022 recipients of the Neumann Heart Fund included Operation Impact 22, Iowa Service Dogs, Central Iowa Shelter & Services, Impact Iowa’s Heroes, Food Bank of Iowa, Boys and Girls Club of Central Iowa, Iowa’s Healthiest State Initiative, Urbandale Fire Department, Children and Family Urban Movement, and DMARC. To apply, complete a brief form on Neumann Brothers’ website. Organizations must have a 501(c)(3) nonprofit tax status and be in Central Iowa. Applications are due by March 31 at 5 p.m.
