A former director of the Iowa State University News Service has been named the new communications manager of the Food Bank of Iowa. According to a news release, Annette Hacker began her new role with the Food Bank of Iowa on Sept. 7. She also served as senior vice president of a metro public relations firm, and has experience in agency, nonprofit and for-profit settings, the release stated. In her new role, Hacker will manage internal and external communications and media relations. “Annette will be a great addition to our passionate team of hunger fighters,” Food Bank of Iowa President and CEO Michelle Book said. “Her talents will be put to use as we continue to build awareness for food insecurity and expand service for struggling Iowans.” The organization also announced two additional staff changes. Sonja LeSher, a regional partnership coordinator, will transition to the position of retail donation manager and focus on increasing food rescue from retail partners, reducing food waste and increasing food that is available to food insecure Iowans. Annah Begg, marketing and communications coordinator, will transition to the regional partnership coordinator position vacated by LeSher. In her new role, Begg will be responsible for food pantry relationships across a 12 county area. Pictured above: Hacker, Begg and LeSher
