The John Stoddard Cancer Center in Des Moines has opened Empower, a new boutique and salon for cancer patients within the center at 1221 Pleasant St. on the Iowa Methodist Medical Center campus. Cancer patients often experience changes in their appearance due to treatments or surgery, which can be difficult both physically and emotionally. Empower will help address the challenge by offering products and services that meet the unique needs of cancer patients. Salon services at no cost will be made possible by donors and the Dream Catchers Foundation. Headwear items and comfort accessories will also be available to purchase. “We are so excited to offer the services of Empower to our cancer patients,” said Rachel Fyfe, manager of the boutique. “This meets an important need for our patients. We want them to feel supported by our team, both in and out of their appointments.” For more information, visit their website or call 515-241-4243.
