The Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication at Iowa State University will host a regional summit on April 6 in Ames. The inaugural daylong event was developed for professionals in journalism, public relations and advertising in the five-state area and beyond. Nearly 200 professionals are expected to participate. The summit’s keynote speaker, Kellen Henry, assistant editor for digital platforms at the New York Times, will share the Times’ strategies for addressing change management and problem solving in a rapidly evolving communication environment. Greenlee School faculty, Greenlee Advisory Council members and industry thought leaders will discuss information on building relationships with elusive audiences, battling fake news, social platforms and how they have changed the communications landscape, and the new challenges of digital advertising. “We envision the summit as an opportunity to bring together thought leaders and industry professionals to address the changes in our respective, and related, industries,” said Barb Iverson, chair of the Greenlee Advisory Council.
