Nominations for Iowa Women of Achievement Awards now open
Women Lead Change announced that nominations are now open for the 2023 Iowa Women of Achievement Awards. These awards aim to recognize the contributions of historical Iowa women who have made outstanding and lasting impacts on the citizens of Iowa, the nation or the world. To submit nominations, visit the award website. The deadline for nominations is July 31. Nominees will be selected based on their significant and enduring contributions; their role as a role model or change agent; their impact on the social, cultural, economic or political well-being of the community, state, or nation; and their ability to inspire future generations. The Iowa Women of Achievement Awards are presented annually, and the honorees’ names are commemorated with plaques on the Iowa Women of Achievement Bridge in Des Moines. The Iowa Women of Achievement currently honored on the bridge include Mary J. Whitely Coggeshall, Dr. Christine Grant, Maria Running Moccasins Pearson, LaMetta Wynn, Barbara Lee Boatwright, Sue M. Wilson Brown, and Carrie Chapman Catt. The awards will be celebrated at a special luncheon during the Women Lead Change Conference on Oct. 18 at the Iowa Events Center.
