Gov. Terry Branstad today named six communities — Cedar Rapids, Davenport, Norwalk, Marion, Mason City and Perry — that are in the second round of certification through the Iowa Economic Development Authority’s Certified Site Program. The program’s first certifications were announced last April for sites in Dexter, Fort Dodge, Iowa Falls and Van Meter. Each site for development was evaluated through the independent, third-party certification process, meaning that all due diligence is completed and resulting issues are mitigated, making the site “risk-free” and thus accelerating the development schedule. Additionally, the Woodward Eco Business Park was named as a pilot site for a new Green Certification program, which acknowledges the growing demand for environmentally sensitive design.
