Douglas Wells and Sarah Wells paid DKP Properties LLC $1.3 million for property at 2200 Grand Ave. in Des Moines, Polk County real estate records show. Douglas Wells is a Des Moines architect. The three-story brick building was built in 1948 by Iowa Home Mutual Casualty Co., according to loopnet.com. Don Peschke, manager of DKP Properties, purchased the building in 1983 from the American Chiropractic Association. Peschke remodeled the building, which includes 24,265 square feet of space, 66% of which is leased, according to loopnet.com. A carriage house located on the property was renovated in 1987. August Home Publishing Co. is located in the building. The group publishes Woodsmith magazine and other special interest publications. The property is valued at $1.8 million.
