At our most recent Power Breakfast, speakers talked about hopeful, realistic ideas to consider in recovery. Here are two themes from Debi Durham, director of the Iowa Economic Development Authority and the Iowa Finance Authority.

Increased expectations for digital sales experiences
“The cornerstones of economic recovery and growth for our business in the post-COVID-19 reality will largely include the ability to adapt to a digital sales process, and to nurture those new relationships built with customers throughout this pandemic. … The increase in digital commerce will lead to an increased expectation for robust digital sales experiences from businesses of all types, even after this public health emergency is behind us.”

Relationship-based support for small businesses
“We have seen our relationship with small businesses transformed from strictly transaction-based to relationship-based in a matter of weeks. Iowans have united around the shared goal of seeing our storefronts reopen for business, and have led a grassroots resiliency movement to ensure this happens. As we navigate the ever-changing complex landscape of life and business post-COVID-19, I encourage Iowans to keep these relationships with the businesses top of mind.”
