A major benefit of Kum & Go’s move to the spectacular Krause Gateway Center in downtown Des Moines is that United Way of Central Iowa will receive roughly 90 percent of the office furniture from the group’s former headquarters in West Des Moines.

“We’re really excited,” said United Way chief Elisabeth Buck. “This is a huge upgrade for us. It’s Herman Miller, top-of-the-line” and includes chairs, cubicles and desks.

United Way’s downtown office will begin a major remodel with the new furniture the week of Dec. 14 and hopes to have everything completed by the end of January, she said. United Way’s current furniture will be donated to other nonprofits in the metro area.
