A number of businesses are of course wrestling with the best ways to help employees who are struggling with child care. We’ll be reaching out to other businesses as well, but I wanted to share briefly one small way Bankers Trust Co. is trying to help. I had heard they were providing a stipend of sorts, so I reached out to Emily Abbas, senior vice president and chief marketing and communications officer, and Scott Valbert, assistant vice president of corporate communications. Here’s what Valbert said the organization is doing for employees related to child care:

Child care assistance — Team members in all locations are eligible to receive up to $75 a day (up to 20 days) for temporary child care. This benefit is designed to help team members whose roles require them to work on-site, but who are without permanent child care for children 12 and under due to school or day care closings.

Paid time to use while securing child care arrangements — Team members were provided up to two paid business days to be at home while arranging temporary child care. This benefit was provided to assist parents left in the lurch due to the rapid closure of schools and some day care centers.
