NOTEBOOK: Judging studs for charity

/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/BR_web_311x311.jpeg

I was recently invited to judge some studs for charity … studs of wood, that is. Unfortunately I couldn’t attend the Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity event on Aug. 29, but we wanted to share the fun fundraising idea. The design competition, held at Peace Tree Brewing, was the culmination of the monthlong Adopt-a-Stud campaign by seven local ad and marketing agencies to sponsor and creatively design individual studs for the walls of a future home. Spinutech was named the winner by judges Lance Henning, Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity executive director, and Joseph Jones, executive director of the Harkin Institute for Public Policy & Citizen Engagement. The participating agencies — Happy Medium, Lessing-Flynn, Meyocks, Spinutech, Strategic America, Trilix and Two Rivers Marketing — will decorate the additional 40 sponsored studs to be placed in a home in late 2019 or early 2020. In total, the effort raised more than $4,000.
