164 wordsArts and Culture, Business Record Insider, The Insider NotebookThe folks who are served by the Stewpot Community Services in Mississippi will dine on Simmons Farm Raised Catfish from Yazoo City after Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant lost a friendly Outback Bowl bet with fellow Republican Kim Reynolds, governor of the great state of Iowa.
The underdog Iowa Hawkeyes won the game, 27-22, after a hard-fought battle with the 18th-ranked Bulldogs. Had Mississippi State found some way to keep the Hawkeyes down, Reynolds would have sent fully cooked turkey breasts from West Liberty Foods to the Food Bank of Iowa.
“Iowa and Mississippi have a strong heritage in both producing great football teams and producing the food and fiber to fuel our country and our world,” Reynolds said in a pregame statement. She predicted a Hawkeye win in front of 15,000 Iowa fans who made the trip to Florida for the game. It may have been merely a politically expedient prediction, but nevertheless, she was right. Her career as a pigskin prognosticator is solid.
