139 wordsBusiness Record Insider, The Insider NotebookThe availability of older office properties that can be rehabbed is starting to diminish in Greater Des Moines, and that is leading to a surge in the search for new buildings. One of those searches is pointing a first-to-the-market company to the former Riverfront YMCA site in downtown Des Moines, as well as other locations. In fact, the central business district is drawing attention from companies seeking a total of 310,000 square feet of space. Some of those companies simply want to relocate, some are downtown and want to stay downtown, and others would be new to the area. The search is leading companies to the downtown as well as the western suburbs. Needs range from 32,000 square feet to 90,000 square feet. One broker said there are “lots of eyeballs” on the central business district.
