Ben Caballero is on pace to sell 6,000 homes in Texas this year. If you’re doing the math, that’s an average of 16 sales every day. And Caballero is accomplishing the feat of being the nation’s top real estate agent at the age of 83, writes Mark Dent for the Hustle. A few years ago, at an age when Caballero could have been thinking about retiring, the real estate agent came up with an idea that encouraged homebuilders to list their inventory on the Multiple Listing Service, the primary way buyers’ agents find homes. Historically, builders have been reluctant to list their new houses with the service. Caballero launched a platform ? HomesUSA.com ? that allowed builders to easily enter data about houses they want to list and an automated lead capturing service connects builders with potential buyers, writes Dent. “Simple as the program may sound, it proved to be a significant innovation for builder clients who develop hundreds, even thousands, of homes annually in Texas, which has outpaced the nation in new housing, per capita, for years,” writes Dent. What’s key for builders is the timely feedback Caballero gives them. He is working on a plan to take his service national, he told Dent. “The resulting product could mean many more sales for Caballero and a greater impact in the real estate industry,” Dent writes.
