As de Blasio tours the Iowa campaign circuit, he has courted rural voters by promoting Iowa’s biofuel industry; Cownie and the state Sierra Club say the industry depletes water and soil resources. De Blasio wants to ban the fur industry at home in New York City; Cownie’s family has been linked to the industry for 131 years. Cownie has not yet decided on who will receive his support in the crowded field, he told Bloomberg.
