Companies striving for equity and inclusion is one thing, but to actually understand the impact of how we interact with co-workers is another. It’s well documented that microaggressions erode someone’s comfort and spirit over time, if not right in that moment. Business Insider put together a list of questions not to ask LGBTQ co-workers. But at a broader level, to create a welcoming environment, we have to think about how the things we say might be interpreted by people who are different from us. It’s better to think progressively than to learn from ignorance.
