NOTEBOOK – ONE GOOD READ: Return-to-office mandates spark uptick in ADA-related lawsuits

As some businesses begin requiring workers to return to the office after more than a year of working remotely, employees with disabilities are pushing back, seeking more telework options than they did pre-pandemic, writes Erin Mulvaney for Bloomberg Law. Legal battles have begun playing out in court, where requests have been denied from people with disabilities. A recent study by Rutgers University professors found that workers with disabilities could benefit from expanded work-at-home opportunities. “For years employers said it was too difficult to allow remote work,” the study’s co-author Lisa Schur, a Rutgers University professor and director of the Program for Disability Research, told Mulvaney. “We are in the middle of a major change for the future of work.”
