The question he responded to asked people which Iowa-based company they’d invest $10,000 in. Upon seeing Winnebago’s record performance in 2017 in our Jan. 12 issue, here was his post (lightly edited): “Sometimes you have to put your money where your mouth is. In the November 2016 Des Moines Business Record Leaders Survey I picked Winnebago to throw money at in 2017. My prediction was dead on with a 75.67 percent 1-year change and my reasoning was almost word for word what they are citing for the impressive growth. There were some layoffs, three new models released, and it was awarded ‘RV of the Year,’ which also helped. If I had only put the down payment on our house towards this stock … never mind… Rachel would have killed me.”
Yes, perhaps your wife would have been upset, but had you bet the house and things gone south for Winnebago, with a little hedging, I’m sure you could have had enough money for a nice towable pop-up Winnebago to tide the two of you over.
Or at least you.
Oh, the irony.
