An inaugural bike ride on Oct. 8 aims to raise awareness for multiple sclerosis and will benefit the Mercy Ruan Neurology Center. The first Annie’s Ride will take place at the Iowa Speedway in Newton. The event is named for Annie O’Dell, who was diagnosed with MS in 1998 during her senior year in college and was the first patient to be treated with a new chemotherapy treatment by Dr. Bruce Hughes that prevents the disease from worsening. There are three distance routes for all levels of cyclists. Tickets are $60 for adults and $25 for youth riders, and include an after-event party featuring the Nadas. Click here for more information on the ride.
