October saw a 30 percent increase from a year ago in homes sold in the Des Moines area, according to the Des Moines Area Association of Realtors. A total of 675 houses were sold in October, up from 570 a year ago and down from 700 in September. The average sale price was $167,502, up from $158,015 a year ago.
