Iowans reached for a beer and a bite to eat on Small Business Saturday, according to a survey by American Express, the company that created the day to patronize local retailers in 2010, and the National Federation of Independent Businesses. In every category tested in the survey, the winner fell under restaurant/bar/pub. Where did shoppers make their favorite purchase? A food and alcohol establishment. Apparently, Iowa doesn’t have enough places to eat and drink. Respondents said they wished their communities had more eateries and drinkeries. Click here to find a breakdown of the Iowa results.
