ONE GOOD READ: New privacy controls will let Apple users block website trackers

With the newly announced iOS 12, Apple is jumping in to the privacy fray headfirst to soothe customers’ worries over digital privacy. Apple unveiled new privacy controls for the Safari web browser and iOS 12 that allows users to see when a website is tracking them, and to disable information sharing, BuzzFeed News reports. “This is the kind of thing where you look at a product on one site and move to another site and another site, and somehow this is just following wherever you go,” said Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of software engineering. “And so this year, we are shutting that down.” (It’s worthwhile to note that Facebook is under fire again for offering mobile device manufacturers, including Apple, access to private user information without explicit user consent.) If you’re interested in some deeper changes beyond the Memoji, industry publication the Register published a dive examining the new user experience — app integration on iOS and MacOS, new verbal workflow abilities, and “deskilling” Siri.
