One Iowa, a statewide LGBTQ organization, has launched the LGBTQ Leadership Institute. The new leadership development program aims to equip future LGBTQ leaders with the tools and skills to succeed not only in the LGBTQ community, but in the broader community as well, One Iowa said in a release. “If more LGBTQ Iowans step up and lead in the broader community, the needle will continue moving closer to full equality,” said Daniel Hoffman-Zinnel, executive director of One Iowa. One Iowa will choose 15 to 20 LGBTQ individuals to participate in the inaugural class. Applications close on May 15, and participants will be announced June 1.
