MudbuM LLC, an Urbandale company that sells specialized catfishing and related sports gear, has opened a  shop at 3894 N.W. Urbandale Drive. The owners have marketed their Hawg Lawg, a specialized heavy-duty catfishing shore pole designed to land monster catfish, for the past couple of years online along with their own clothing line and other fishing accessories. Their online TV show, “The MudbuM Boys,” also has an avid following on the Pursuit Channel and Carbon TV. “We did some trade shows and were very successful, so we decided to introduce our product to the public in a brick-and-mortar store,” said Jeff Garrett, one of the owners. Visitors to the store, which had a soft opening in mid-April, will experience “a real cool outdoor theme” throughout the shop, complete with an old fishing boat in the center of the store and a wildlife art gallery of mounted deer heads and skins on the walls. In addition to its line of catfishing equipment and clothing, the store carries a line of equipment from the show’s sponsors including coolers, vehicle lights and camping gear. A grand opening event May 21 will feature a live broadcast by 93.7 “the Outlaw” along with food and giveaways.
