Open house planned to inform public about Waukee’s all-inclusive recreation project

The Waukee Betterment Foundation will host its first “Playing for a Miracle” event from noon to 5 p.m. April 13 at Sportsplex West, 890 S.E. Olson Drive, as a as a way to kick off its initiative to raise funds, design and build an all-inclusive recreational area in the city. The free event aims to educate people about the future Waukee recreation area, which will feature a Miracle League field, an ADA-accessible fishing pier and an all-inclusive playground. The foundation is raising $2.5 million for the project, which will be situated in the heart of the new Waukee Community Park and Youth Sports Complex to be located north of Hickman Road and east of 10th Street. The city’s complex is expected to open in 2021, with the foundation’s all-inclusive amenities to follow in 2022.
