The special auditor’s report, released today, alleges former Iowa Veterans Home Commandant Timon Oujiri received the extra pay between June 2019 and April 2021 following a change in how his position’s salary was calculated. The report states that Oujiri told the governor’s office this year that he knew about the overpayments but did nothing to resolve the issue. Gov. Kim Reynolds fired Oujiri in May without explanation.
