Prairie Meadows has announced President and CEO Gary Palmer will retire at the end of the year after 19 years in the role. Brian Ohorilko will succeed Palmer, effective Jan. 1, 2026.

Ohorilko had a 20-year career at the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission, including 12 years as administrator, before joining Prairie Meadows as a senior vice president in 2023.

Prairie Meadows began operations in 1989 as a nonprofit with the goal of promoting economic development, jobs, agriculture and tourism in Iowa, according to a news release. As president and CEO, Ohorilko plans to maintain the county-owned casino’s status as a gaming destination in Iowa and its giving to community organizations through taxes and charitable donations, the release said.
