The Greater Des Moines Partnership received two awards at the 2024 Mid-America Economic Development Council’s annual Economic Development Awards. The Mid-America EDC is a professional association representing 13 states: Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Wyoming. The Partnership received the “Entrepreneurial Award – Large Division” for the Spark DSM Business Incubator Program, which connects local startups and small businesses with events like the Downtown Farmers’ Market and the World Food and Music Festival. The Partnership also received the “Marketing Program Award – Large Division” for its Do Something Greater campaign designed to attract talent and drive economic growth in Greater Des Moines. Since its 2023 launch, the campaign has had 425,000 visitors from all 50 states and over 190 countries, a news release said. “These awards demonstrate that our programming is best-in-class and help our region stand out regionally and nationally as a top place for economic development activity,” Stacie LoVan, the Partnership’s senior vice president of economic development, said in a prepared statement.
