Partnership unveils 2012 legislative agenda
The Greater Des Moines Partnership unveiled its 2012 State Legislative Agenda at a luncheon today at the Hotel Fort Des Moines. Legislative leaders also participated in a panel discussion previewing issues in the upcoming session that begins in January.  Among the Partnership’s priorities are the preservation and strengthening of economic development incentives and tax credits; improvements to the state’s education system; commercial and industrial property tax relief; investment in transportation infrastructure; and the creation of tax incentives for small businesses to implement wellness programs. “The Partnership believes that state government should set the stage for business competitiveness, entrepreneurship and employment generating investment by the private sector to promote economic growth,” said Suzanne Heckenlaible of Delta Dental and 2011 Government Policy Council Chair. The Partnership’s full Legislative Agenda is available in electronic form at http://www.desmoinesmetro.com/public-policy/policy-agendas/
