Pella Corp. and Des Moines Public Schools will be recognized with Energy Star Partner of the Year awards during a ceremony scheduled April 20 in Washington, D.C. The Pella-based manufacturer is being recognized for continuing to innovate by introducing new Energy Star certified products, including three new Energy Star Most Efficient 2014 product lines. The company has also maintained strong consumer education and outreach about Energy Star and has reduced its building energy usage by 10 percent. Des Moines Public Schools will be honored as an Energy Star Partner of the Year for Sustained Excellence for its commitment to demonstrating environmental and financial stewardship through comprehensive energy management. The school district also received a second Energy Star award, for Climate Communication, for raising awareness of the impacts of climate change. The two Iowa organizations are among 128 organizations in 33 states to receive Partner of the Year awards.
