Martha Miller, a long-time Pleasant Hill resident and public servant, was recognized this week by the City Council when it unanimously approved renaming a portion of a street in her honor. The council unanimously voted to rename the eastern portion of Meacham Drive, located between Northeast 64th and Northeast 80th streets Martha L Miller Drive. Miller “has been an integral advocate for spurring growth in Pleasant Hill,” Pleasant Hill Mayor Sara Kurovski said in a prepared statement. Miller was a city council member for 25 years; served on the cemetery committee, 10 years; and the Planning and Zoning Commission, eight years. She also was chairwoman of the Des Moines Metropolitan Planning Organization for four years.
