The Polk County Health Department released a list of warming center locations throughout Ankeny, Clive, Des Moines, Johnston, Urbandale and West Des Moines as wind chills are anticipated to dive well into the negatives. In Des Moines, warming centers are at Southridge and Merle Hay malls, all libraries (Central, East Side, Forest, Franklin, North Side and South Side) and the Animal Rescue League of Iowa. The two 24-hour warming centers in the metro are at Central Iowa Shelter and Services (1420 Mulberry St.) and Bethel Mission (1310 Sixth Ave.).
