Polk supervisors give themselves 4.7 percent raise

88 wordsAll Latest News, Government Policy and LawThe Polk County Board of Supervisors this week voted to give themselves a 4.7 percent raise, well above what they have given to rank-and-file county workers,The Des Moines Register reported. The $5,000 boost the supervisors awarded themselves will raise their pay to $112,000 on July 1. The supervisors approved a 3 percent increase for Teamsters workers and a 2.75 percent rise for AFSCME workers. Republican Supervisors Robert Brownell and Steve Van Oort opposed the three Democrats on the board and voted against the pay raise for elected officials.
